We welcome Alex Garmash as Merchant Ecosystem Leader

We welcome Alex Garmash, an industry leader from Australia, in the role of Merchant Ecosystem Leader. With a wealth of knowledge and expertise, he is set to guide and shape key business activities, fostering collaboration with merchant partners in our strategic markets of Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece.

With more than 23 years in corporate organisations and management consulting, Alex brings diversity of knowledge and experience. He served various industries from banking, telecoms and healthcare to mining, energy and automotive. Alex worked across most continents and diverse economic conditions: from emerging markets as Ukraine, Brazil, Thailand and Indonesia to established economies as Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland.Before joining us, Alex led transformations at a global consulting firm, Alvarez & Marsal, as a Senior Director. He also worked as COO/CFO in automotive business and led turnarounds across Australia and Asia as a Senior Vice President at McKinsey & Company.

Alex earned an MBA from the London Business School (UK) and a Master’s Degree in International Economics from Kyiv National Economic University (Ukraine). Also, he has post-graduate diplomas in strategy, growth and cybersecurity from Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School and University of Oxford. He is a certified member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

I am very excited to join tbi and lead Merchant Ecosystem. I see great potential to grow the business of our merchant partners by providing easy and fast instalment plans and financing for their customers. It is thrilling to work with the passionate tbi team on bringing the best customer experience in eCommerce and instore financing and BNPL across Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. My team and I will be working hard on digitising customer and merchant journeys, bringing the best of tbi products and apps, increasing the number of merchants that we work with.

Our ambition, under Alex’s leadership, is to make tbi bank app the main point of contact between consumers and merchants – where shopping and sales happen easily, flexibly and instantly. At the same time, providing quick access to our alternative payment methods in more than 23,000 merchant check out points remains an unchanged priority for the Merchants Ecosystem team.

We are the leaders in the payment plan business in our region, and we have very strong embedded, long-term relationships with all types of merchants, from the largest e-commerce players to the mom-and-pop stores. We believe that bringing consumers closer to those merchants, by providing insight into their shopping habits and interests, is the contextualised future of our business. With an exceptionally experienced leader like Alex on board this future is even closer.
